Abu 'Ubaidah said: I was told about Ibn 'Omar that he
said, "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
said: 'Amongst the trees, there is a tree, whose leaves do not fall and is like
the faithful Muslim. Tell me what it is.' "He said, "The people mentioned different kinds of desert trees. And I thought of the date palm tree
but I felt shy to speak up. Then they said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, tell us what
it is.’ He said: ‘It is the blessed date palm tree. It gives its produce every
season by the leave of its Lord.’"
